Ar, ar. The architecture of Fran Silvestre affects the metaphysical since it sheds light on significant conjectures in the field of design. An apartment that is reminiscent of a study in white is shown here… The color white serves as the defining characteristic of this dwelling, which is conceptually abstract and geometrically simple. Applying the tenets of the simple process of whitewashing (lime paint is a low-cost type of paint made from slaked lime and has lost its popularity to more lasting paint and surface-finish options), the architect shrouds the entire apartment in white, creating an illusory effect that camouflages services and promotes in its wake, a serenity that is almost sterile. The field of design relies heavily on color psychology. Essentially, it is a visual language that is understood by everyone on a global scale. Additionally, when seen from a positive perspective, it conveys openness, grandeur, purity, and neutrality all at the same time. This apartment is a testament to anticipated reactions and the subtle wow factor of aspects of surprise that tend to emerge from the all-white canvas. The interaction between human and constructed form is at the basis of any built environment, and this apartment is a testament to both of these things. It should come as no surprise that the whole home is distinguished by continuity in space. As a result of the furniture pieces concealing building “accidents” and intrusions and integrating current technology services inside them to increase thermal insulation and acoustics, the furniture, which is entirely white, merges in perfectly with the surfaces that have been whitewashed. A clutter-free program emerges into the arrangement of a two-bedroom apartment with an island kitchen, dining, and flexible living area. Fran Silvestre Architects is known for their minimalist design style, which is another one of their distinctive defining characteristics. As sliding partitions, walls may be dismantled at whim, electrical boxes can be concealed behind cabinets, and indirect linear lighting can be incorporated into the ceiling… basically aiming toward the goal of making things visible only when it is necessary to do so. The plan is simple, with the two bedrooms going out to the patio, the living room looking out at the main roadway, and the kitchen, which serves as the heart of the house, having dual access. The only other color that unites the all-white interior landscape is the flooring, which is made entirely of wood. This flooring contributes to the linearity of the plot even more. This residence has an air of frugality, which is accentuated by the presence of a few colors that are in sharp contrast to one another, such as black and ink blue. The architecture is as vocal as it is quiet, increases space amplitude (largesse of life), promotes cleaning (pragmatics), and maybe also life – the act of living, desiring, requiring, and searching… when seen from a philosophical perspective, as the architect may have intended.
