The performers’ diction is usually something that strikes me as particularly impressive whenever I watch a movie or a television show. No matter what roles they are portraying, it makes no difference. In addition, regardless of the country of the individuals, their expression is crystal clear and succinct when they speak. This is as a component of their training. Do you have the same thing to say about your diction? A great number of individuals have a significant accent, talk too rapidly, speak too quietly, or slur when they speak. Each and every one of these issues has the potential to make your speech less clear. Naturally, your first reaction could be that it is the responsibility of the actor to speak clearly, but that it is not as important for you in your life, whether it be professionally or personally. and I urge you to reconsider. Please explain why it is essential for the actor to have a clear voice. Obviously, in order for those of us in the audience to comprehend what it is that he or she is saying. Since this is something that you agree with, then it is difficult to see why you would not consider it essential for you to communicate clearly if the success of your work relies on being understood. If you are often asked by other people to repeat yourself, you need to find out what it is that you are doing incorrectly. The first thing you should do is record your voice while you are speaking and then listen back the tape. Is that what you heard? Is the volume of your voice too modest? Is it possible that you are exclaiming with sufficient loudness, yet the words you are saying are not clear? Given that English is your second language, do you find it difficult to comprehend what you are saying due to your accent? Due to the fact that they had the mistaken belief that they were speaking much more clearly than what they were hearing on the tape, many of the individuals with whom I have worked are taken aback when they hear themselves in this fashion. One must be aware of the fact that the way in which you are identified and regarded by other people is directly proportional to the sound that is captured by the recording equipment. This is the way that everyone else hears you, even if it may not be something that you are used to hearing. Therefore, if you are not able to communicate effectively, you should work on improving your diction daily. There is a limit to the number of times that other people will ask you to repeat yourself before they either take control of the discussion or, more often, look for someone else to handle their issue. The pace of business in today’s world is lightning fast.
