There will be montagu family pantomime rehearsals, craft activities, traditional decorations in every room of palace house, and carols and punch to enjoy from December 16th through January 1st at Beaulieu. Step back in time to a beautiful Victorian Christmas at Beaulieu. Join the Montagu family, who are being portrayed by actors in period costumes, as they get ready for the holiday celebrations that will take place at their ancestral family house in the year 1889. See Palace House come to life as the family and staff practice a Christmas Day pantomime. Visitors to Beaulieu are welcomed to participate in the holiday shenanigans and are welcome to join the cast on stage. Then, make your own Christmas letter or build a dazzling ornament to place on the tree by joining Lady Montagu in the library for some craft activities. You may also snap your own family picture using a historical frame, and if you want to be really creative, you can dress up in period-appropriate clothing and headwear. It wouldn’t be christmas without a special feast, so make your way to the kitchen to chat to lord Montagu’s chef and her kitchen maid as they prepare for christmas day lunch. Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a special feast. After that, take part in the caroling that is taking place around the grand piano in the downstairs drawing room, and then warm up with a glass of mulled punch while sitting in front of the roaring log fire. The Christmas adventure at Beaulieu starts the moment you enter through the main doors to the site. In the guest reception area, there is a life-size gingerbread home that gives picture possibilities. Located in front of the national automotive museum is one of the biggest outdoor Christmas trees in the New Forest. After you have finished gawking at it, follow the lighted walk that is lit by fairy lights down through the grounds until you reach palace home. You’ll find a Christmas tree in each of the rooms of the home, and it will be decked up with the usual trimmings. The 25-foot Christmas tree that has been placed at the bottom of the main staircase is something brand new for 2018, and it will be impossible to miss. The kitchen store at Palace House has a wide variety of Christmas gifts, ranging from delectable preserves to cutlery. The guest reception gift shop is the place to buy automotive memorabilia and children’s toys. Get inspired by the Christmas gift selection at the kitchen shop at Palace House. The Beaulieu estate is open all year round, except Christmas Day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Palace House will be open until 6:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 9th and 10th, as well as December 16th and 17th. The general admission entrance ticket grants access to all of the Christmas activities as well as the national motor museum with its collection of more than 250 vehicles, the new-look world of top gear, on screen cars, palace house, 13th century beaulieu abbey, and the stunning grounds and gardens of the attraction.
