It seemed obvious to me that I must have been given incorrect information. Not only were my shoes damp and torn, but so were my pants and other clothing items. I had no choice but to give up in the end. I was the last person standing when the race was done, which was not shocking at all. I, on the other hand, was the only one who had not completed the game. I had feelings of frustration as a result of it. My colleague inquired as to the reason why I had wasted so much time. When I was being informed of the reason, he came dangerously close to yelling at me, asking, “Why don’t you use the compass to determine whether or not your direction is correct?” not sure why, I just did not know how to make use of it. This race had provided me with an opportunity to learn something valuable, and as a result, I made it a point to utilize a compass in every orienteering event that I participated in.
