An example of how human nature responds to eclectic warmth is provided by Askdeco, which gives warmth and color to the industrial footprint of a property in Beirut. This is an emotion that is both universal and eternal. with breath-taking panoramas overlooking the mediterranean sea, old roman ruins on one side, and the energy of downtown beirut’s colorful streets on the other, this 700 sq. m contemporary family duplex owned by a young couple with a baby is sprinkled with a warmth created out of an industrial chic décor. Nisrine Nasr, co-founder and interior designer at askdeco, works in collaboration with the client to transform the initial vision of the client for an industrial-styled home into a space that is more refined and livable. This is accomplished by achieving a harmonious balance between the muted and monotone color palettes of hard architecture and random bursts of vibrant color. The industrial design components are brought into play by the use of earth colors, concrete textured walls, gunmetal finishes, mediterranean grey marble flooring, and brown wood. Additionally, the usage of wood and metal infuses a cosier design into the heart of the design. Artworks that have been carefully picked, furniture and furnishings that are eclectic, and accessories that are one of a kind come together to create a trendy design statement. The public top level is created for fun and leisure, reflecting the lifestyle of the client, and it has a reception space that is capable of organizing parties away from the bedroom sections. The upper level is separated into two quite contrasting atmospheres. Among its amenities are a cigar lounge, a bar, and an activity area, the latter of which is equipped with a modern football table and high-end billiards. The stunning cage-like spiral staircase that connects the two floors acts as a transition, leading down to a space that is noticeably more private. This area includes bedrooms, a modern kitchen, and a family living room that includes luxuries such as a couch and a daybed. The bottom level of the area also has a primary bathroom that is not your typical bathroom. It is equipped with a glass bathtub and a free-standing bathtub mixer, both of which serve as the focal point of an atmosphere that is intended to provide individuals with complete relaxation. According to Nasr, “well-designed places work easily and improve the quality of life of individuals who inhabit them.” This is a precept that our continuing special seems to reflect!
