THE FEELING OF BEING IN A MOVIE!

The recently finished enlargement of the Wuhan Cinema on the ninth floor included the addition of five auditoriums, all of which faithfully adhere to a potent theme designed to attract people. The award-winning hong kong-based design company one plus partnership added even more depth to the already bizarre and dramatic architectural idea of the current theater when they designed the enlargement of the wuhan wushang mall international cinema. At the movie hall, a bygone period of stacking film reels that were kept in flat circular metal cases, which represented the classics that we have loved over the course of the years, comes to life in a setting that is both abstract and current. Huge spherical plates with a diameter of 2.8 meters are connected to one another to create the appearance of film reel boxes and serve as a ubiquitous feature throughout the theater. This immediately grabs the audience’s attention. The emotion of surprise and wonder on the face of the visitor is elicited by massive installations consisting of circular plates all along the ceiling, tightly spaced at varying heights, and positioned to overlay each other. The plates fall to the ground to discreetly separate the area where tickets are sold, while also creating an atmosphere that is in a state of continual motion. The overlapping discs extend above the sitting area, providing a comfortable place for audience members to wait for the start of the film. The fluidity of the subject is reflected in the furniture, which contributes to the design by adding to the atmosphere created. The stone counter in the concession area, the moveable tables and stools in the lounge area, as well as the separators and washbasins in the bathroom… all of these items have smooth edges and round shapes, which recall the single motif. The use of color and lighting may give the impression that there is activity going on all the time in the room. The metal discs coated with wood patterns give texture while maintaining the cinema’s earthy tonal palette at the same time. They provide a feeling of movement on top of the brown stone strips that are used for the flooring in the foyer by casting shades and shadows, while the couches in the sitting area are rendered with elegance and tranquility by the dark green color. The seating in the auditorium is upholstered in green and brown to match the color scheme, and the feature on the ceiling is designed with basic lines to provide continuity. The auditoriums each have their own distinct personality, while also expanding upon the overall idea. The film reel boxes assume the shape of little brown discs constructed from absorbing panels in this setting.
