It features a semi-enclosed inner yard that serves as a new patio, as well as a fence with an openwork design that offers some degree of privacy while also filtering out the noise that comes from the alley. The area has been opened up to make it more practical, light, and bright. At the same time, the ancient exposed brick wall and wooden boards have been preserved in order to maintain the historic character of the building. A unique combination of materials is used by the architects in order to play on the senses. The flooring in the restroom is anointed with varnished concrete, the walls are coated in enormous, shining, white ceramic tiles, and the counter is built of ancient wooden planks. In a similar manner, an opalescent glass strip embedded in the concrete-panelled floor of the hall produces a fascinating feature as the threshold at the entry. A few historic mouldings add a traditional colonial flavor to the area. As the palette of materials that are gently contrasting extends into the kitchen, where glossy white MDF and quartz countertops softly reflect light, a juxtaposition of contemporary and traditional materials dominates. This allows the other raw elements to stand out. Steel, masonry, and wood are all left exposed and in their original state, which gives the house a vibrant color. There are also steel features that have been added in order to free up space and open up the back facade. On the other hand, an aluminum window has been installed at the other end in order to provide the impression of depth toward the outside and to make the area seem bigger. Natural birch flooring, which is reminiscent of the original flooring that could not be salvaged, and a brick wall that has been reinstalled and is filled with magnificent character are the highlights of the house that is created in an eclectic manner but is otherwise basic.
