The design studio Tcs, which is a sibling of design forum worldwide, is responsible for the design and construction of two multi-residential buildings in Delhi. Both of these buildings are designed to showcase luxury while still having a green spirit. “with a decreasing green cover in urban areas, craving for a green view and a connection to nature has become more intense, both for visual reasons as well as to create sufficient biomass to produce oxygen,” say goonmeet singh chauhan and anoj tevatia, principal architects, speaking about the design of their two recent projects, which are located in vasant vihar and greater kailash, both of which are located in the city of New Delhi. They have painstakingly implemented solutions such as maintaining trees and bushes on site, incorporating planter balconies, terrace gardens, and integrating existing trees into the overall spatial layout into each of the projects that they have undertaken. the project in greater kailash has nature integrated right from the stilt level of parking, where a tiny green lawn facilitates not only recharging of the ground water table, but also becomes a breathing zone; further, fitted with outdoor seating, the area is thoughtfully converted into a communal space. In this wheelchair-friendly structure, a step-free entry has been cut out, and large entrances have been installed to guarantee that wheelchairs can enter the inside of the building. In order to reduce energy consumption, green building features like high-performance double-glazed glass, the utilization of dust-proof and sound-proof windows, air conditioning with a rating of five stars, exposed plumbing, water management, solar geysers, and other similar features are implemented. The project is anchored in sustainability via the use of local materials such as exposed brick, contextually appropriate dholpur stone, and a significant focus on natural light and cross ventilation. Jaali is placed against stone panels in the facade of the Vasant Vihar project, which is a mix of contemporary and ancient architecture. This juxtaposition helps to soften the uniformity of form with details. During the day, the stone lanterns that are proudly displayed at the entrance points serve as magnificent sculptures, and at night, they provide lights that are dispersed. Through the use of wall paneling and suspended ceiling panels, the interiors are brought together by the warmth of wood, while the lighting is mostly veiled and subdued, which produces an atmosphere that is calming. When it comes to the natural infusion of light that is flowing in from floor-to-ceiling windows, the function that interior lighting performs is in the background. The romantic relationship with nature continues uninterrupted even into the master en suite bathroom, where the balcony that is next to the toilet is meant to seem like a tree pit, bringing a tropical atmosphere directly into the bathroom. Urban beauty and environmental consciousness are brought together via the dynamic interaction of thriving vegetation and polished Italian marble. The intelligent design helps to the integration of all the amenities of modern living without sacrificing on the fundamentals of life, with nature serving as the focal point of both projects.
