What exactly do you need? We spend a significant amount of time doing things that we don’t really want to do, and then we grumble about having to do those things. I mean, come on, what is it that you actually want to accomplish? There are those individuals who spend their whole lives toiling away at a job that they dislike, or maybe even despise, and staying with a partner that they despise, therefore squandering their lives away. In most cases, this is because the person in question has never given sufficient thought to the question, “What do you want?” It is not living if you go through life content with whatever you have. It’s nothing more than passing the time till you pass away. hearing others say things like “why do you believe you should be able to do what you want, no one else can?” and “why do you think you should be able to do what you want, no one else can?” If we pay attention to what they say, then we are the ones to blame for the outcome, since what they say is not accurate. It is important that we acquire what we desire. We ought to take pleasure in the life we have. Our life shouldn’t consist of doing one thing after another that we don’t want to do, making ourselves more and more unhappy day after day. Sure, there will be moments when we have to do things that we don’t want to do, but that shouldn’t be the norm. It seems that society has usurped authority over our own life for some unknown purpose. Although it is true that society plays a vital role in maintaining order and protecting us, it is ultimately up to each of us to seize and maintain control of our own lives if we want to make the most of the time we have been given on this earth. We need to get a piece of paper and a pencil, and then we need to ask ourselves the challenging question. There is only one of anything. “What do you want us to do?” Is it a devoted significant other, a loving family, a good home, plenty of money, and a nice automobile in order to go on an adventure? what? If we don’t already have this information, how can we possibly place ourselves in a position to get it? I once read a book with a title that describes this topic quite well. If you don’t know where you’re heading, it’s likely that you’ll wind up at a different location. How would you like it if at the end of your life you were rocking in a chair and thinking about all the things you should have done but didn’t, rather than smiling because of all the things you did do? Wouldn’t it be better if you thought on how much fun you had instead? You are not perfect and you have made some errors, but if the whole truth were known, some of those errors really worked out very well. Therefore, go out there and start doing the things that have been at the top of your bucket list for as long as you can remember. The list is not a “bucket list.” It’s the list you’ve always had, but you never bothered to look at it because you were under the impression that you couldn’t do anything on it. You are foolish. I’m ready, let’s get this party started. If you remember nothing else, make sure you have this one: “it’s never too late until the day after you die…and we’re not really sure about that.” ### ?
