Ar. Aijaz Hakim is responsible for transforming a large, abandoned penthouse in New York City into a collaborative work place that encourages the development of ideas that intersect several disciplines. An uncared for and decaying 8,000 square foot loft in the warehouse area of famous New York City has been brilliantly transformed by the firm aha, which is headquartered in Pune and is led by senior architect Aijaz Hakim. The expansive space, which features a high ceiling and large metal windows, has been redesigned to create interesting pockets of interaction. Its purpose is to serve as a collaborative zone for the purpose of displaying products, holding financial meetings, and generating new ideas for potential alliances with investors and venture capitalists. In the otherwise open floor plan, a play of levels generates little passageways that not only succeed in isolating the pockets, but also succeed in captivating the visitor with a different identity for each pocket. Through the process of organizing a project that is located abroad and getting the necessary finishes, a design has been developed that capitalizes on the capabilities of the local contractor without sacrificing the vision of the architects. The crudely finished brick walls not only increase the visual element but also create a narrative thread that contrasts with the slate grey concrete enclosure. This is because there are no unusual architectural finishes or details present in the walls. Variable ceiling heights conceal services without disrupting the continuity of the concrete finish, which was selected in particular for its workability and ease of maintenance. Meanwhile, bursts of color in furniture create a welcome break in the neutral shell, defining formal and informal meeting platforms, lounge area, and audiovisual zone. Those days are long gone when you had to cope with being harassed by employees at really fancy hotels or offices while you were trying to close crucial sales. The client is able to present his multi-million dollar idea to interested investors without having to look over his shoulder in this private space, which is located in the hub for the eastern seaboard of the continental United States of America for the majority of financial, art, and commercial transactions. This space serves as the ideal location for this venture. Take a look at the pictures that are available on indiaartndesign.com of this stunning loft apartment.
