Interiors by Ranjani (IBR Designs) creates a house that beautifully represents the myriad of little details that contribute to the overall joy and celebration of life… It is quite subjective to design residential spaces. However, despite the fact that it represents a variety of perspectives, the house remains harmonious as an unified organism. IBR’s Ranjani comes to this realization and puts it into action at her house, which is located in a prestigious neighborhood in Bengaluru. Aware of the fact that different people have different tastes, she employs a diverse range of materials and applies an equally captivating touch to the design components, which together create an atmosphere of warmth. The house, which is 1508 square feet in size, has a lived-in atmosphere. The kitchen and dining space, which is only partly open, serves as the focal point of the house and serves to clearly differentiate between the public and private sections. There is a sense of eclectic contemporaneity in the space as a result of the careful attention to detail and effective space design that was done. One observes a play of textures as natural raw uncut wood juxtaposes with acrylic mirror panelling (in the dining area ceiling); and glass – custom-made copper-colour and black lacquered glass (in the master bedroom) is pitted against natural veneer; or even as wooden rafters in the ceiling vie for attention with the modern furniture, and a chest of the drawers in the dining area (which is custom-designed using all the colours used in the project) is complemented by a whimsical and time-honoured mirror above it to reflect a colonial feel. Ranjani painstakingly blends five different stones that have been carved into informal forms to create the main wall in the living area. This wall is a representation of the material play that is emphasized throughout the room. Every one of the private quarters is designed to reflect the individuality of the people who live there. While the master bedroom is decorated with a timeless mix of black and gold, the guest bedroom makes a conscious effort to maintain a neutral color scheme. The children’s room is often intended to be a bright and cheery patchwork of colors, with study, play, and sleeping roles that overlap to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to spaciousness. The house exudes a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere thanks to the abundance of natural light, and the ambient mode is finished off with carefully selected light fixtures. A contemporary way of living is exemplified by the house, which is a modern environment that has been constructed in a way that is balanced and thoughtful.
