When I was a tiny kid, I can recall my mother having knitting needles or a crochet hook in her hand while she worked on a project. She was able to create the most exquisite sweaters, afghans, and other items for the house. I was also taught how to create a few other items. And despite the fact that I am not even close to being in her league, I have really loved learning from her. The next task that I’m going to ask my mother for assistance with is going to be learning how to knit the sweaters for the squad. We have discovered a retailer that carries team yarns, and the production time for the baby sweaters is just a few days. We have the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys, plus we have one Green Bay Packers sweater that is finished and has been sold. Since they already had a pattern, there was no need to adorn them with any fancy stitches to make them more interesting. Additionally, unique yarns are being used in the production of the afghans. Our very first attempt was a yellow ripple stitching pattern with a multicolored outline along parts of the ripples. There is also a gorgeous pink one that has scallop shell embroidery that your mother has created. This one was retained as is without any further trimming since, in our view, a scallop shell design in a delicate pink hue can’t be topped by anything else in terms of aesthetic appeal. Additionally, we had a lap or crib blanket that had a three-tone chevron stitch in gray, teal, and aqua. We had planned on using the yarns to make a sweater for a male, but mom was curious about how it would look if she used it to make a baby blanket. I believe that it functioned more well as a blanket. I’ve been working on one that has a diagonal design and is colored in red, white, and blue. In order to do this, you will first cast on 4 stitches, and then add one to the beginning of each row thereafter. Because I’m crocheting a blanket for a toddler, rather than a baby, I’ll need to make it a few inches bigger all the way around. The beauty of working with a diagonal pattern is that it allows you to scale up the project to whatever size you choose while still providing some insight into how the final product will appear. Additionally, if you do not choose to complete it in the shape of a blanket, you can just cast off and you will have a shawl to wear during the chilly winter months. These need to be made a bit longer so that there is sufficient space to wrap around you completely. The next project that we are going to work on is crocheting afghans in the colors of our local school for one of my coworkers. The diagonal design will be used for the one that my mother crochets, and I will knit the one that I make. It’s one of my favorites due to how quick and simple it is to carry out.
