Miki Agrawal is a person who is now working toward the goal of empowering the modern-day woman via the use of creative design that not only serves to improve the quality of life for women but also helps the environment along the way! Iand is pleased to share with you the story of Miki Agrawal, a “serial social entrepreneur” from New York City who is of Indian descent. Through her innovative products, such as Thinkx and Icon, she strives to make the world a better place, not just for women but also for mother nature. It would be an understatement to say that Miki’s endeavors are fascinating! In his role as co-founder and chief executive officer of the well-known period-underwear firm thinx, the young entrepreneur tackles the issue of women’s monthly discomfort by developing period-proof underwear called thinkx, which effectively reimagines the traditional sanitary pad. The initial cover is a moisture-wicking layer, followed by an anti-microbial layer; then comes the absorbent, which can hold up to two tampons’ worth of liquid; and finally, there is a leak-resistant layer. This ingenious piece of design is based on a patented technology called thinx quadtech®, which consists of four ultra-thin micro layers. However, the thoughtfully designed underwear is what makes it an environmentally friendly companion. Thinkx is a washable and re-usable underwear, which, just like any other regular underwear, can be washed (according to the instructions that are provided) and worn by its user, thereby reducing the amount of pads that are used (and, consequently, the amount of pads that are wasted). Icon is the next product that Miki will release, and it will also have a similar social empowerment. Icon was initially introduced as an additional feminine hygiene solution with the purpose of assisting in the management of light leaks, commonly referred to as urinary incontinence (UI) in the medical field. This condition is known to affect one third of women, and it occurs when they laugh, jump, jog, sneeze, or cough. A fast-wicking inner lining, anti-odor treatment, and anti-microbial coating of sliver and ultra-thin absorbent layer that can store up to five teaspoons of fluids are all features of the icon, which was designed using technology that is especially focused on the scientific makeup of urine (roughly 500 drops). Icon offers coverage comparable to that of a panty liner with light to moderate absorbency (once again, it is washable and reusable), so removing the need for women to use disposable pads and granny liners. This enables women to continue with their daily activities without any interruptions. However, it is not the end of the list… This “force of nature” also goes by the name of Miki Agrawal, and she is the creator of the contemporary bidet brand Tushy, as well as the celebrated farm-to-table, gluten-free pizza concept Wild. Additionally, she is the author of the best-selling business credo, Do Cool Sh*t. She has been given the title of social entrepreneur of the year at the World Technology Awards in 2015, and Forbes has recognized her as one of the top 20 millennials who are working for a cause.
