Photos taken by Leah Linhares and provided by v2com photography In light of the most recent and relevant solution for waste management, a straightforward activity carried out by Denmark’s Whizz Kids has brought about a revolution in the traditional “use me” boxes, also known as dustbins. A project that was initially planned to be completed within the first semester has now evolved into a company setup that is being headed by two students of design engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, namely Heiða Nolsøe and Marie Berggreen (dtu). In addition to being made from recycled cardboard, dropbuckets come with a pe-liner that renders the cardboard water-resistant. The design of the structure, which is in the form of a pyramid, makes it resistant to wind, and it can be set up and ready to use in a very short amount of time with only a push. Moreover, it can be flat-packed, which helps to reduce the amount of space required for storage and makes it easier to travel; the fact that it is weightless makes it possible for ten flat-pack parts to be carried individually under each arm! It is possible to reuse the bin depending on the kind of garbage that it has previously contained, and the disposal process results in recycling. Because of all of these characteristics, the dropbucket is a container that is not only economical but also robust, portable, and environmentally friendly. At the millions of festivals and events that are held all over the globe, garbage disposal is sometimes an afterthought that is dealt with in a shoddy and unsatisfactory manner; dropbucket takes care of these last-minute aesthetics in a pragmatic manner. The original portfolio of the dropbucket has been reorganized into three new modules, one for business usage, one for home use, and one for wider distribution. At the moment, it is being dispersed over Germany, the Faroe Islands, and Denmark. It is also being spread across Iceland. Additionally, discussions have begun with distributors in the countries of Sweden, Norway, and Austria. It has been announced that dropbucket has been awarded the Red Dot Design Award for Best of the Best in 2015! Here is a link to the photographs that can be found on indiaartndesign.com:
