Group of IAnD has enlisted the services of five highly regarded interior designers and architects from India to discuss the projects that bring them the greatest excitement in 2018 and beyond… Every one of us has a little desire that is buried deep under the foundation of our daily obligations and commitments. Occasionally, we get a little bit closer to achieving the dream, maybe a portion of it, perhaps something that is like, or perhaps the dream itself is beginning to materialize! Here is what these five creatives who are highly regarded are looking forward to getting on… Ankon Mitra, as the Co-founder and Design Director of Hexagramm Design, is a creative professional. Excitement regarding: the Origami Wonderland Imagine you are embarking on a journey through a fantasy country that is made entirely out of paper and has fascinating shapes, spaces, and colors. When this installation is carried out by Ankon at a paper biennale later this year, you will soon be able to experience the sensation of being completely submerged in this peaceful area. Ankon considers origami to be more than simply a sculpture; rather, he considers it to be architecture, or, as he calls it, Oritecture. This is an important point to consider. This installation, which will be titled Origami Wonderland, will be brought to life by the renowned designer who was inspired by the concepts of light and spatiality in the works of James Turrell. This installation will be characterized by the powerful and striking presence of single-color spaces, in which a single color is split into hundreds of shades by the chiaroscuro and sfumato of origami folds. As an example, in one of these next architectural designs, the color red is transformed into magenta, merlot, crimson, currant, blood, garnet, ruby, and scarlet. We are on the lookout for it as well! Interior designer Sumessh Menon, who works with Sumessh Menon & Associates, is a very creative professional. The next hotel project in Dubai is something that excites me. Put all other restaurants in Dubai to shame; the renowned architect Sumessh Menon is now working on the design of the future Silver Beach Café, which will be a standalone establishment with three stories and framed views of Dubai Creek. Having been started a few months ago, the diner will wear the SM imprint of inventive use of materials; exquisite workmanship; and the one-of-a-kind touch of whimsy that we have all grown to appreciate so well. In addition to its other notable features, Sumessh refers to its 14-foot high volume, which will have floor-to-ceiling openings that will be framed by metal fins and custom-textured glass, as well as a dedicated outdoor area that is 2100 square feet in size. Sumessh is thrilled about the prospect of incorporating design patterns and methods that he has not before worked with into the development of the project. Sumessh is looking forward to “unquestionably researching the foreign market in the forthcoming year on a magnified size.” This is because he has previously participated in international initiatives in Africa and New York. In addition, this means that a great number of foodies all around the globe will be in for a lot of good news! Moriq Interiors and Designing Consultants, as well as the creative duo of Simeen and Riyaz Quraishi, are examples of creative professionals. Excited about: a villa in Bahrain with a theme from luxury automobiles For Simeen and Riyaz, the new year brings with it a new challenge. They are excitedly anticipating the design of a private home in Bahrain for a family that has a love for luxury automobiles, which is an aspect that is represented in the curves and angular lines of the structure. The villa is going to be constructed as a residence that is buried below, and the landscaping will cover a significant portion of the property. Despite the fact that automobiles will, of course, continue to be an essential component of the interiors, which will also extend to the higher floors, the villa will coexist with the microclimate of the area in order to keep its occupants cool throughout the summer months. Wow, it is really awesome! The Principal Architects of Khosla Associates, Sandeep Khosla and Amaresh Anand, are Creative Professionals. The Calcutta Riverside Club in Kolkata is something that excites me. Calcutta Riverside Club is a sprawling recreational club that draws inspiration from the long colonnaded verandas of Kolkata’s colonial clubs, the vast ‘beels’ of rural Bengal, and the intricate terracotta temples of the region. Sandeep and Amaresh are renowned for their timeless architecture, and they are looking forward to the completion of yet another classic, which involves the construction of the club. The architects have designed two dynamic sloping and skewed roofs, which lunge towards the existing mature trees on the east and west of the site. This is a departure from the generally orthogonal layout that was designed by the architects. It is anticipated that we will soon be able to present to you this architectural wonder that is responsive to climate! Creative Professional: Samira Rathod, Principal Architect of the SRDA Development Authority In awe of: A Wall That Functions as a Room Is it possible that a single wall could ever hold the function of a room? For that matter, a whole house? Samira, a renowned architect, has conceptualized an installation that plays with material, proportion, and size in an effort to redefine space. This project is intended to make sense of a premise that seems to be ludicrous. The term “A Wall as a Room” refers to a wall that is three feet thick and may be transformed into a living room, a dwelling, or a self-contained unit. This concept gets its lead from the creativity of requirement that is often seen in the homes of inhabitants of urban squatter settlements. She envisions the creation of multiple slices through a home by increasing the thickness of the wall and sculpting it to accommodate the functions of a home. Her goal is to demonstrate that the wall, as a building element, can be repeated while allowing for interesting permutations. This will be accomplished without the paraphernalia that is typically associated with conventional living quarters. Despite the fact that she is preparing a full-scale installation of the same thing for the upcoming architectural festival in Jaipur, Samira is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to put her theories into practice and possibly develop a revolutionary idea for cost-effective, space-efficient, and habitable spaces that are designed for those who are thrifty at heart!
