A PASSIONATE RELATIONSHIP WITH SPATIAL DYNAMICS

In Dindigul, which is located in the state of Tamil Nadu, ar. Prasanna Parvatikar has built a home that is 8,300 square feet in size for his customer, Mr. Dinesh. In accordance with vaastu principles, the home was designed with a traditional layout that included curves on both the outside and inside in the shape of circular columns and a balcony. This was a feature that the customers found to be very appealing. therefore, in response to the client’s request to “dress up the house” while “not disturbing its structure,” ar. prasanna of the tirupur-based practice known as “cubism” has introduced a curvilinear pattern known as “fluid flooring” that subverts the rigid divisions that exist between rooms. The pattern encompasses the entire house as it sneaks into different spaces in the form of flooring, walls, partitions, ceiling, and skylight. In order to disrupt the straight-line notion that divides the entryway and dining area, Prasanna has installed a circular wall. This is because the dining area is the strategic center of the home. This circular dining wall is complemented by a dark curvilinear floor pattern that wraps around the regularly used common corridor. The atmosphere and space are enhanced by a wooden fake ceiling with cove lighting around its circumference, which naturally spills over into the common spaces. The use of a play of light, on the other hand, which can be achieved through the use of double-height walls, circular chandeliers, recessed lights, circular skylights, and scattered vertical slits in the walls, not only allows for an abundance of daylight to enter the room, but it also energizes the evenings. This aspect of openness is brought forward by glass windows that go from floor to ceiling, which are designed to let nature flow into the area. In the design of the foyer, bedrooms, washrooms, and swimming pool area, curvilinear forms are juxtaposed with straight lines. This creates a subtle drama, creates illusions, and adds layers, which makes the already spacious bungalow appear even larger. Additionally, these forms improve visual connectivity in the common areas of the bungalow. The home gives the impression of being a well-balanced combination of design and decoration elements, with clutter being completely removed and spatial relationships – both area-to-area and human-to-built-form ratio – being calibrated to extract the essence of contemporary materials and atmosphere while maintaining a timeless blueprint.
