The idea that “nobody will notice a detail but everyone will feel its presence” is the fundamental notion that underpins the function of design in improving experiences that people have in their daily lives. The reml shelf is an example of one of these… luka fabjan and tadej podakar are two young students of architecture from Slovenia. They operate under the moniker tripike, which means “three dots,” and they are sticklers for conscientious design. They strive for simple answers to daily needs by making great use of space. Their creations are characterized by a blend of sophistication, understated beauty, attention to detail, practicality, and high quality. One example of a clever design is the reml shelf, which takes its name from the Slovene word for a short wooden beam and exemplifies efficient use of space while also adding aesthetic value to one of the most fundamental pieces of domestic furniture – the omnipresent shelf. The shelf is assembled from various pieces of wood, the majority of which are constructed out of slovenian larch. The form of the basic semi-finished hardwood beams, which are each 80 centimeters in length, is determined by the inherent qualities of the material, which are cut to match those characteristics. In order to get a clean and appealing final shape, a triangular saw cut is performed on one of the edges. The new shape, which has been given the name reml, draws attention to the essential qualities of wood, including its massiveness, structure, and sturdiness. After being cut in an elegant fashion, the wooden beams that make up the reml shelf may be arranged in a variety of ways, both horizontally and vertically, to create a wall-mounted rack that serves a variety of purposes and can be adapted to suit an individual’s specific requirements. In point of fact, the wooden beams are cut in such a way that when assembled, they produce a space that is capable of housing a book or glass plate, which might then work as a shelf for some books or things that are positioned vertically. The reml shelf is designed to be utilized single or in multiples, with the primary emphasis of the design being placed on the product’s essential characteristics. Work is now being done on the product to improve its logistics in order to achieve optimal manufacturing and supply anywhere in the globe.
