Because of its lengthy history of Spanish, French, and other influences, New Orleans has a special position in the annals of the nation’s history. When you set foot in the renowned “Crescent Place,” with streets like Tchoupitoulas, Melpomene, and Terpsichore, and cuisine like the Po-Boy, muffulettas, and café ole and beignets, who would dispute that you are in a city that is out of the ordinary? On the 19th of May, 2017, Mayor Mitchell J. Landrieu delivered speeches in which he declared that statues of General Beauregard and General Robert E. Lee were nothing more than a “nuisance.” He also stated that removing these statues would allow New Orleans to become one of the great cities of the twenty-first century, which are now more welcoming to people of all backgrounds and identities. While he was speaking, a gathering of four hundred people stood by in another section of the city and witnessed the 8,000-pound monument of Lee, which had been in the “Lee Circle” of the city for 133 years, being lifted up and carted away like a pile of junkyard garbage. In preparation for his next victory, the Mayor has his sights set on the monument of Andrew Jackson that is prominently displayed in the middle of the world-famous “Jackson Square location.” It’s possible that it’s his concept of a “lagniappe.” Tourism, you are going to suffer a significant hit, so be on the lookout. The long and the short of it are simple to explain – maybe. This is because many people all around the nation are scratching their minds and questioning why these things are happening. The act of ripping the monuments out of their positions is the activity that is meant to eradicate any remnants of “white supremacy” that are still present in New Orleans. The issue that still has to be answered is: what should be done with the historical books? If the mayor continues down the route that leads to a logical conclusion, it would seem that a significant book burning is the next step. On the state of California, Gov. It is now possible for even kindergarteners to get some LGBT indoctrination before they become too difficult to control as non-diversity beings. Jerry Brown has led the troops of the left against the hordes of imagined transgender, homosexual, and homophobic individuals. Because of this, “Governor Moonbeam” is the moniker that has been given to him. Despite the fact that it is difficult to conceive of what Mayor Landrieu could be able to earn for his moniker, it is not so difficult to realize that the leaders of the left have once again managed to come up at the wrong fight. The removal of the sculptures, according to Landrieu, will be a challenging endeavor. He continued by saying, “But you elected me to do the right thing, not the comfortable thing.” This politician is a complete and utter mess. Removing sculptures is a simple process that just takes a truck and a crane to complete. The difficult part is getting rid of the reputation that the city is one of the worst in the country when it comes to experiencing violent crime. Since the day he assumed office, Landrieu has not made any progress toward eliminating that despicable distinction. When it comes to the amount of homicides and assaults that occur in the United States, New Orleans is ranked fourth. In this grim milieu of inner city criminal activity, children are receiving stray gunshots, and black on black violence is the leading cause of death. This is the case in this particular context. It is possible that Mayor Landrieu is fully aware of these facts; but, to this day, he has not taken any action that might result in a reduction in the escalating number of untimely and terrible fatalities that have occurred in the city. As of right now, neighborhoods such as the historic French Quarter and the uptown regions of the city, which are home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, are being targeted by thieves, carjackers, and killers. Residents of the Greater New Orleans region are generally always aware of the fact that gunshots have taken place in the area. Is it possible that the Mayor has failed to recognize the true “nuisance” that is troublesome for the city? There are a lot of people who are saying yes, including Jeff Crouere, who is the host of the radio and television program in New Orleans that is called “Ringside Politics.” The author of the scathing article titled “Left Wing New Orleans Mayor Declares War on History,” Crouere, makes the following statement: “It is quite ironic that the liberal Democrat Mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, is trying to erase uncomfortable parts of the city’s rich history while simultaneously preparing to celebrate the tri-centennial next year.” A city that is recognized all over the globe for its precious architecture and monuments is becoming less appealing as a direct result of Landrieu’s unquenchable desire to become a politician. Although Landrieu may have his sights set on the governor’s house in Louisiana, he will never be able to explain the inconsistencies that he has left behind in his legacy as mayor. This is because there is no possibility that he will be able to run for a third term as mayor. Crouere is quoted as saying, “When the history books are written on the Landrieu administration, the judgment will undoubtedly be bad.” During his tenure as Mayor, Landrieu presided over a city that was often listed as the nation’s murder capital. The police department was completely wiped out by him, and during his term, the number of officers in the force dropped by at least 500. Because of a malfunctioning criminal justice system and a District Attorney’s office that the Mayor refuses to completely finance, the rate of violence has considerably grown toward the conclusion of his tenure. This is due to the President’s refusal to fully fund the office. He may be able to locate money to remove monuments honoring the Confederacy; yet, he will not provide funding for an office that is committed to preventing criminals from roaming the streets of New Orleans. Taking into consideration his goals as mayor, this is a rather pitiful perspective. It is common knowledge that the majority of people who live in New Orleans are of the opinion that the city’s involvement in the widespread problem of slavery is a part of its uglier and more heinous history. However, it is no longer relevant. Bringing it back to the forefront is like reliving the agony and the loss that it caused. Do we elect mayors because this is the job, the calling, and the reason we elect them? Following this mayor to the major book burning that took place in 2017 seems to be the only option available. Do you remember the saying, “Those who forget the past are destined to repeat it?”? What happened to it? As a result of yet another generous flight of imagination, it is now possible to avoid the whole forget and recall problem simply concealing a few bronze sculptures. Before Mr. Landrieu brings all of the animosity of the past to life once again in the magnificent old metropolis that is so often referred to as “The City that Care Forgot,” would someone inform him that the statues have passed away? It is not the superficial appearance of the city that requires the attention of a wise mayor; rather, it is the “condition of the city.” The fact that Landrieu is so involved in his liberal subjectivism makes it impossible for him to see this simple but significant reality. The Bible instructs us to judge not according to appearances but according to good judgment.
