The jewelry shop HSJ in Lucknow, which was created by RMDK, is a testament to the adage that “when art meets luxury”… The HSJ flagship in Lucknow, which spans over two levels and an area of more than 10,000 square feet, exemplifies an understated air of opulence that is associated with the born-regal. The design was conceptualized and designed by Ravish Mehra Deepak Kalra (RMDK), a design studio based in Delhi, in collaboration with I’m The Centre for Applied Arts, a furniture concepts store. Although it was constructed as an introverted vault, the sandstone facade, which has gold steel detailing on its surface, makes a strong statement. Upon entering, one is greeted with a glass door that is thirty feet high and has intricate detailing. This door leads to a reception room that features a red glass elevator that is elliptical in shape and is awe-inspiring since it is surrounded by a spiral staircase. Moving forward with the penchant for detailing – primarily as a reflection of the diligent craftsmanship that underpins jewelry-making – a colorful floor inlay – a take-off from the traditional Meenakari craft – and its complementing relief-work on the ceiling reflects the brand’s eclectic style as it leads the visitor to the elevator – moving forward with the penchant for detailing. In the lobby of each level, there is an illuminated ceiling installation that can be seen from the entryway. This creates a powerful visual element that is derived from the word “go.” There are several zones throughout the shop. In contrast to the top level, which is reserved for diamonds and silverware, the ground level is reserved for gold. In order to facilitate the appropriate viewing halo for each gem, each display area is created according to the product range. This includes the use of specific color palettes, as well as bespoke lighting, furniture, and chandeliers at each display section. The diamond section uses shades of blue and has semi-precious stone counters along with the bull’s eye arch display and white origami floral displays; the boutique gold section uses shades of red and has a ceiling that is hand-painted in a European style that is forty feet by forty feet; the daily-wear gold section uses a simpler color scheme of white and gold and has a reception feature wall that is inspired by pearls; and the silver section uses shades of purple and is designed minimally to accommodate the chunkiness of silverware. A dramatic touch is added to a place that is normally quiet by providing comfortable seats with private conversation areas, clean floors, gold trimming on the walls, and ceilings that have been custom-designed (hand-painted, coffered, recessed ceiling) with suitable lighting. The vibrant colors of royal blue, deep scarlet, and regal purple are contrasted by tonal variations of neutrals like as charcoal and deep umber. This helps to link the diverse aspects together while also complementing the items that are shown. High Street Journal Lucknow is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience that exudes lavishness and friendliness. It strikes a balance between the old and the modern.
