I know I have struck a chord when people who are normally dissatisfied and blog trolls leave the obscurity and protection of the blogs to send me emails in which they swear and moan about anything I have said. Email responses were sent in response to an article with the title “Pop Culture Trends are not Morality – What Christians Actually Hate will Surprise You.” These responses included language that was not refined and lengthy diatribes about how the perversion of “gay marriage” is perfectly justifiable. The concept that “love” is all that is required to give the go-ahead or validate homosexual partnerships or “gay marriage” is one of the most prevalent arguments that has been rehearsed a thousand times over the years. When writing to ministers of the gospel, individuals seldom identify the lusts that drive them; rather, they use the term “love” to describe their most fundamental vices. This is the case the majority of the time. How could a minister ever reject the word, and how could he possibly dispute with the most authoritative instruction of all the scriptures? The practice of incorporating the concept of love into a wicked way of life, or much more egregious, using the scriptures to excuse a transgression, is not original. The scripturally ungrounded, who believe that a little usage of the Bible is all that is required to sweeten the pot of boiling desire and immorality, have been taken in by it for thousands of years. This is the reason why Peter addressed this specific tendency in a manner that was clear and unambiguous. When Peter was asked about Paul’s letters to the churches, he responded by saying, “As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things that are difficult to understand, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” Revelation 3:16 Love is also capable of being misguided. It is a gift from God that every human being has the capacity and the ability to love, but it is also a gift that may easily be misplaced. The ancient world held the belief that it was appropriate to despise one’s adversaries while simultaneously honoring one’s companions. In the moment that Christ entered the scene, he addressed that fallacy by stating that we were to love even those who were against us. Matthew 5:44 In other words, Jesus did not inquire as to whether or not we were capable of loving our adversaries; rather, he simply ordered us to do so. At the same time, he acknowledged that the power to guide our love was a given. But this is not the end of the story. In addition to this, he was aware that whenever we had the ability to direct our love, we would have a tendency to direct it toward the wrong things. Christ was aware that men may love anything to the point of obsession, and that this kind of love had the potential to consume them completely. It is in the following section that the warning is made most apparent. It is not the world itself, nor the things that are in the world, that you should love. If a man feels love for the world, then he does not have the love of the Father inside him. Because all that exists in the world, including the pride of life, the desire of the eyes, and the lust of the body, is not of the Father but rather of the world. The world and its desires will eventually pass away, but the one who abides in accordance with the will of God will remain unchanging eternally. 1 John 2:15–17 verses If a person is capable of loving objects to an extreme degree, then the question that naturally arises is: how simple would it be for them to love other people in the same way? Interestingly, the Bible also states that love and affection may and most likely will be used “inordinately,” which will result in the anger of God and, finally, our own destruction. This is a statement that is interesting to consider. According to the Bible, “Mortify therefore your parts which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, excessive attachment, vile concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For the cause of these things, the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience.” Revelation 3:5–6 The concept of excessive love may seem to be a mystery, but in reality, it is as ubiquitous as air. We have a deep affection for our homes, our automobiles, and our possessions. Whether it be an astronaut or a bank robber, we have a deep affection for those who are able to evoke our emotions and imaginations. We adore things that do not deserve to be loved. It is more likely that we will disregard the victims who were shot in the face with a powerful 44 pistol and instead revere Jesse James for his renowned braggadocio and bravado. A priority is placed on genuine love. Love that is gay disregards the priorities. In spite of the fact that homosexuals and those who support them often use the biblical command to love as a justification for their “inordinate devotion,” in order to do this, they must disregard the command to love God above all else. During the time when a Jewish teacher of the law approached Christ with a trick question with the goal of catching him off guard, Christ was caught off guard. It is possible that the message that Jesus delivered in response is the most significant one in the whole New Testament. Then, one of them, who was a lawyer, posed a question to him, provoking him by asking, Master, which is the most important commandment in the law? Jesus responded to him by saying, “You are to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your soul, and with all of your mind.” First and foremost, this is the most important commandment. (Matthew 22:35-198) It is possible for our love to be directed in a variety of ways; yet, according to Christ, the most important thing for all of humanity to do is to send it to God from the beginning and in its whole. The conclusion that follows is that if we love God with all that we own, then we will love everything that God is, says, and will do. If we love what God says, is it possible for us to disregard his teachings and instead aim our love toward what God considers to be a “abomination” and a conduct that is sinful? In order to love God, we must love the order, the direction, and the guidance that he has supplied for us. This includes the specifics about homosexual passions. God has been quoted as saying, “If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you more than 10 times.” Regarding homosexuality and the gay life, the following is a collection of eleven texts that are as obvious as a bell pertaining to the subject matter. There are no provisions in any of them for the “love justification” perspective, which is now being used to justify the behavior of homosexuality in order to make it seem more acceptable. The concept of “gay marriage” is a significant departure from the fundamental doctrines on homosexuality; indeed, it is a display of wickedness in the presence of God. This is not love, and it will lead us into the wrath of God as certain as the sun rising in the morning. It is not the time to hide behind the term “love” in order to rationalize what God has plainly condemned. Because lives are at risk and countries are in the balance, now is not the time to do so. If the love that you have is elevated to a higher level than the love that is stated in the first and greatest commandment, then you may want to give this text close consideration. According to the words of the Lord, “When I will say to the upright, that he shall definitely live; if he trusts to his own righteousness and commits iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his wickedness that he has done, he shall die for it.” 33:13 of the book of Ezekiel Since the year 2005, Michael Bresciani has been serving as the publisher of American Prophet.org.
