During the course of the last week, we seen Jeb Bush and Donald Trump become part of the ever-growing crowd of Republicans who have announced their intention to put themselves up for the president. In all of their remarks, the President made big assertions and pledges about the recovery of the United States. But there was a lack of attention paid to the so-called “social concerns,” which include, of course, marriages between people of the same gender and abortion. It is without a doubt a misnomer, and it is a pretty cowardly and sneaky way of putting the nation’s ugly fall into anything fleshy and prurient on the back burner. The phrase “social concerns” is a misnomer. In some instances, the descent into pure perversion is perceived as a battle for equality or civil rights, whereas in other others, it is seen as a societal trend. A number of individuals, including preachers, prophets, moralists, and politicians who have not sold out, are expressing their concern that the problems that seem to be of lesser significance are, in fact, the most significant subjects on the agenda. They are the concerns that will determine the fate of our country, and despite the fact that the majority of the references originate from the Bible, the repercussions for neglecting these issues are so terrible that only idiots would not give them a serious look. The Bible is not anything that we have ever read, much less believed in, if our conception of God is that he is a God who is a doting, ambivalent, sobbing, impotent, and forgives everyone and everyone who has done something wrong. There are many people who are warning that God is withdrawing his hand of protection, which makes it possible for terrorist attacks and natural disasters to occur in our country. Recently, Anne Graham Lotz, the daughter of Billy Graham, cited the Supreme Court’s interference with marriage, our diminishing support for Israel, and the ongoing scourge of abortion as key reasons why God is allowing and in some cases initiating various judgments across the spectrum. She also mentioned that the Supreme Court is interfering with marriage. However, the biblical record tells a totally different picture than the secular mind, which is unable to accept the idea that God is in charge of nature in the absence of scientific evidence. It is not a proposition that may be argued about, but rather a guarantee that God will intervene in nature, according to the Bible. In the Bible, God is described as having the ability to intervene in the affairs of men through a variety of natural phenomena, including but not limited to the following: the weather, earthquakes, floods, pestilence, attacks by wild animals, disease, terrorism, and a dozen other natural transformations. The next several months and years will see an increase in the number of these attention-getters that is unprecedented in the annals of human history. God asserts that he has entire control over the flow and flow of the planet, from the enormous deluge that Noah experienced to the death of a single little sparrow. Even in the most densely forested or jungle settings, it is impossible for a single bird to fall without the awareness of God. The following is an example: “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? … not a single one of them will make it to the ground without the assistance of your Father. [Matthew 10:29] God never loses control, and he does not wait for the storm to reach a greater magnitude; he is the lord of the sea even now, just as he was millennia ago. This is true regardless of the magnitude of the storm. Around the time when I was a young man, I was traveling through the Bermuda Triangle aboard an oil tanker. The oceans were as quiet as a pond in the morning, but within 10 minutes, a massive storm descended over the area. This occurred after the morning had been completely tranquil. When asked about the storm, our skipper, who had been sailing for more than four decades, said that it was the most intense storm he had ever experienced. Our bow was raised by the waves, and the massive ship was lowered to the water below with such a resounding impact that the shock wave resonated like an earthquake all the way down the length of the ship. If there was no way to absorb the stress, the vessel would simply break in two if it were to occur. I disregarded the captain’s instructions that were issued to the aft to remain inside, and instead I went to the highest point in the aft quarters, where I grabbed on to a rail and saw the most ferocious exhibition of nature that I have ever seen anyplace in my whole life. In the same way as Paul the Apostle, who was also sailing out of ancient Crete when he met a terrible storm, I was calm and certain that no one would be wounded on that journey. According to Acts 27:34 I was standing on the balcony, gazing out over the calm blue-green seas of the Atlantic Ocean, and as I pondered on the big storm that I had just seen, another storm came to mind. The storm ceased just as quickly as it had begun. It was on the Sea of Galilee that the storm occurred, and the consequences of that ferocity are well-known all across the globe. “And there came a huge storm of wind at that time, and the waves battered into the ship, causing it to become full at that moment.” And there he was, sleeping on a cushion at the stern of the ship; and they roused him from his slumber and asked him, “Master, are you not concerned that we may perish?” In addition, Jesus stood up, rebuked the wind, and commanded the sea to be silent and peaceful for a while. The wind stopped blowing, and there was a tremendous sense of stillness. (Proverbs 4:37–39) Despite the fact that meteorologists, seismologists, and the rest of the world as a whole are unable to see or predict what storms or disasters will befall us in the future, the prophecies of scripture state that a great number of storms will occur if the nations do not return to the one true God of creation, the God of nature, and the judge of man. This country has to look for more than just a conservative candidate for president; rather, we need to look for a safe harbor in the God who gave us our nation and will undoubtedly hold us responsible for what we do with it during the time that we have been given. Find him right now, as the storm is getting closer. In the same way that a mother can placate her kid, you have the power to calm the chaotic waves of the ocean; when you tell them to “Be quiet!” they will heed your command.
