Who could have imagined that a day would come when disagreements with atheists would become a customary part of the Christmas season? In recent times, Dave Muscato and other atheists have been seen on various news programs, where they have discussed the privileges granted to them by the First Amendment to be non-believers. Yours truly argued with Muscato on the Alan Colmes radio program earlier this month. Hannity and O’Reilly are among the newsmen who have battled with Muscato and other atheists. Both of these debates took place earlier this month. Arguments are reaching a fever pitch because the focus is now on the infamous billboard that was placed in New York’s Times Square. On the billboard, the word “Christ” is crossed out. Sign watchers are told that they would have a much better Christmas without Christ in it. The billboard has been in the news for the entire day. They are your friendly American atheists, and they say, “Bah Humbug.” There is not a single person in the United States of America who would argue that atheists do not have the right to keep Christ out of Christmas, but there is also no one who would claim that Christmas does not exist without Christ. If the atheists of this age are meant to be representative of those who are clever, enlightened, or well educated, then they may want to take some remedial classes in common reasoning. Atheists: Are you dumbfounded by an angel? According to Daniel 9:21, the angel Gabriel was sent to the prophet Daniel in order to provide him with guidance on the sequence of events that would take place at the second coming of Christ. This occurred more than 700 years before the birth of Christ. After many centuries have passed, Gabriel is sent to Mary to convey the message that she will be engulfed by the Holy Spirit and that she will become pregnant with a child who would be known as Jesus and will be referred to as the Son of God. It is Lu 1:35. The fact that Gabriel made an appearance to John the Baptist’s father is the most fascinating aspect of the whole thing. Zacharias, John’s father, responded to the angel in a manner that indicated his lack of belief when he was told that he would have a son in his old age who would be the forerunner of Christ. He also insisted on an accompanying sign to demonstrate that the angel was serious about his message, but what he received was a rebuke. “And the angel who was addressing him said, I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God; and I am sent to speak to thee, and to bring thee these joyful news,” the Bible says. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to talk, until the day that these things shall be completed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.” (The first chapter of Lu: 19–20) It is possible that Gabriel is still hitting unbelievers dumb, even if they may be able to convey their disbelief with electronic billboards. This is because the attempt to market the concept that Christmas is better without Christ may be evidence that Gabriel is still striking deaf ears. For the most part, it is reasonable to assert that the First Amendment may provide freedom, but it does not guarantee wisdom necessarily. Does it take the form of a seasonal annoyance or a struggle to prevent souls from entering everlasting life? The religious leaders of Christ’s day, who were simply pretending to be atheists, were cautioned that their actions of preventing people from joining the kingdom of God was a terrible transgression, and that they would be held accountable for their actions. It was not their personal decision to reject salvation that Christ scolded them for; rather, it was their readiness to undermine the faith of others that caused him to warn of a “worse damnation.” [Matthew 23:14] There is a more sinister trend that fits into the prophecies of the second coming of Christ and the appearance and full acceptance of the world’s last and worst dictator – the antichrist. Although the annual battle with atheists against Christmas may appear to be nothing more than a mere distraction, it is actually a part and parcel of this trend. Nevertheless, even atheists are capable of comprehending concepts such as the rules of reciprocity, the principle of reaping what they sow, and the entire concept of futures markets. In order to get a higher price, raw materials or crops that have not yet been grown and harvested are sold on the markets on a daily basis. It is possible to make a substantial profit by purchasing things at the prices that were in effect the day before. Ignoring the call to salvation is a loss, even if it is for only one person; nevertheless, when we draw others along with us, the futures market has been engaged; the profit is always the same – a bigger damnation. Ignoring an invitation to salvation is a loss. You are able to remove Christ from the Christmas celebration, but you cannot remove God from the infant! Because even those who were selected to know the secrets of the kingdom of God (Matthew 13:11) grappled with it, it is simple to see why atheists can not understand the incarnation. This is shown by the Apostle Philip’s insightful inquiry to Jesus regarding seeing “the Father.” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” His words were said to him. After all, if you had known me, you ought to have likewise known my Father; and from this point on, you are familiar with him and have witnessed him. Philip addressed him with the words, “Lord, show us the Father, and you will be sufficient for us.” Jesus made the following statement to him: “Have I been with you for such a long time, and yet have you not known me, Philip?” Whoever has seen me has also seen the Father; and if this is the case, then how can you command us to show us the Father? 6–9 of John’s Gospel In a subsequent letter, the Apostle Paul elaborated on the difficulties that Philip had to face in order to comprehend. Paul offered this simple but deep explanation of what the concept of “incarnation” refers to altogether. The verse states, “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath delivered vnto us the message of reconciliation.” Revelation 5:19 Christ was not just a great prophet, a humble servant, a teacher, or a visionary; he was also God in the flesh. It is impossible to overstate the significance of Christ. Christmas is a time when we celebrate a great deal more than just the baby who was born in a manger; we celebrate God in a baby. Those Preachers Who Have Their Sermons Been Numbered Charles Haddon Spurgeon is widely considered to be one of the most influential gospel preachers in history. On June 31, 1834, and on January 31, 1892, The many sermons and publications that Spurgeon produced have been scrupulously preserved in volumes that number his sermons. This allows anyone who study them to make explicit references to each sermon and the incredible material that it contains for themselves. “This is the season of the year when, whether we desire it or not, we are obliged to think about the birth of Christ,” Charles remarked in sermon number 57, which was based on Micah 5:2. The sermon was titled “The Incarnation and Birth of Christ.” I consider it to be one of the most ridiculous ideas in the world to believe that there is any kind of religious significance to the practice of celebrating Christmas Day. The observance of that day is purely of Popish origin, and there is no probability whatsoever that our Savior Jesus Christ was born on that day. It is without a doubt that those who are Catholic have the right to honor it, but I do not see how consistent Protestants can account for it as being even the least sacred. Even though he was able to put the roots of Christmas and the dates that were questionable in order, he was not prepared to fully disregard the significance of Christmas or its effectiveness. Spurgeon was aware that the mere act of redirecting the attention of millions of people over the holiday season may potentially result in a favorable occurrence for certain individuals. In the event that Christ is recognized for who he is and what he has achieved, then salvation will emerge for certain individuals. According to what Spurgeon had to say, “I wish there were ten or a dozen Christmas celebrations throughout the year… I do not believe that contemplating the incarnation and birth of the Lord Jesus is harmful in any way. Atheists in our society are aware of the harm that might result from contemplating the incarnation. The summary that is unparalleled in comparison to all others For my part, I have always held the belief that Sir Isaac Newton was given an excessive amount of credit for the discovery of gravity. The idea that he was the first human on earth to be struck by a falling item and then had the foresight to make the connection between the bump on his head and the universal law of gravity is so absurd that it is almost laughable to consider. It is reasonable to believe that atheists need such a jolt to the head, in all of its blatant simplicity, in order for them to comprehend the one universal rule of Christmas. Atheists battling an enemy that they believe does not exist is foolish enough, but attempting to remove Christ out of Christmas is on the level of extreme folly. The devout find the concept of atheists fighting an enemy that they swear does not exist to be silly enough. On Christmas, it is not about Christ; rather, it has always been about God in a baby. This has been the case. The essays and reports written by Reverend Michael Bresciani, a journalist, have been posted on American Prophet.org since 2005.
