It is with great pleasure that the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) announces that it will be hosting a comprehensive schedule of exhibits, talks, pop-up dinners, tours, workshops, and fundraising events in 2018. October 29, 2017, Monterey, California — It is with great pleasure that the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) announces that it will be hosting a comprehensive schedule of exhibits, talks, pop-up dinners, tours, workshops, and fundraising events in 2018. Additionally, the Art in Bloom Gala will take place on April 28th, and Family Days will be held in February, June, August, October, and December. Additionally, the Museum will be hosting its popular Miniatures exhibition from November through December, as well as a fundraiser called “Brews for A Cause” in November and “Christmas in the Adobes” in December according to the 2018 calendar. Among the exhibitions that are scheduled to launch in-2018 are: 2018 Coburn Gallery, May 10th to July 8th, for the Weston Scholarship Exhibition at Outcalt Gallery: Our Ocean’s Edge, June 14-September 10 Between the dates of May 24 and August 27, E. Charlton Fortune will be exhibiting his work at the Outcalt Gallery. Coburn and Entry Galleries hosted the first section of The New Domestic from July 20th to October 28th. Edward Weston: Portrait of the Young Man as an Artist was the exhibition that was recently held at the Museum as the opening venue. Additionally, the exhibition “Who Shot Monterey Pop!” was shown for the first time. On June 2, 2017, photographs taken during the 1967 Music Festival was shown. When it comes to connecting art and community, the Monterey Museum of Art places a heavy focus on interactive experiences that are constructed around the museum’s extensive collection of art from California and the surrounding area. Visitors are the target audience for exhibitions and activities of the highest quality, which are meant to engage and inspire them. The Museum was created in 1959 with the purpose of conserving the creative history of the area via the collection, preservation, and presentation of the art of California and the Central Coast by the Museum. Beginning as a branch of the American Federation of the Arts, the Museum of Modern Art (MMA) continues to be the only museum between San Jose and Santa Barbara that has received national accreditation.
