Iconic architecture is becoming the standard, whether it is because architects now have actual creative freedom thanks to computer-aided design tools or because one architect is trying to outdo the other. Either way, iconic architecture is becoming the norm. Recently, the city of wuhan in china was able to witness a technological and architectural marvel in the form of the pixel box cinema, which was designed by architects one-plus partnership. The city is currently home to a multi-use complex that has high-end shops, international brand stores, restaurants, and movie theaters all in one convenient location. The approach, which was created by un studio, incorporates both modern and classic design aspects into a single conceptual framework. The concept of synergy of flows is essential to each and every component of the design, including the fluid articulation of the building envelope, the programming of the dynamic facade lighting and its content design, and the interior pattern language, which directs customers from the central atria to the upper levels and all the way through the building via a matrix of corridors. The interior design is designed around the north and south atria, which results in the creation of two distinct settings that are nonetheless connected. These distinct personalities are each defined by a unique combination of geometry, materials, and details. The north atrium is distinguished by materials in warm tones of gold and bronze, which represent the building’s cultural and historical background. The city’s character and the urban rhythm are reflected in the silver and grey tones with reflecting textures that may be seen in the south atrium. Both of the atriums are topped by skylights that are contained inside a funnel-like structure. This structure not only integrates the panoramic lifts but also links the roof to the ground level. The design of the facade prioritizes the creation of a dynamic impact by handcrafting a blend of two materials: polished stainless steel and patterned glass. These two materials are fashioned into nine spheres of varying sizes and contours, but all according to the same specifications. The way in which they are arranged in relation to one another recreates the appearance of movement and reflection in water, as well as the sensual folds of silk fabric.
