An appealing spatial experience is provided by LUKSTUDIO via their U Concept Gallery, which is located in the bustling and socio-cultural West Bund neighborhood of Shanghai… The gallery, which is located inside the Sunny Walk shopping complex, brings together the commercial, educational, and cultural activities under one roof. It is a semi-public retail experience that unfolds down the length of the room. Designed to be simple and interesting, the gallery gives visitors the opportunity to interact with one another and discover new things as they go around the folds that make up the space. This tiered arcade is located between the atrium and a small public corridor. It is comprised of a lengthy stretch of white walls with arched openings that provide pausing places at every turn, so changing the monotony of the longitudinal space. The storefront makes use of alternating openings and closings to create inner and outward spaces between the two entrances. This allows the storefront to guide views and movements on the open floor. An extension of the fold serves to obfuscate the distinction between the public hallway and the gallery, therefore discreetly inviting people to enter. While simultaneously producing an expressive storefront, the basic shape provides vertical display surfaces and discreetly segmented zones for the purpose of flexibility. It is possible to clean the floor and manage other important programs by using a wooden volume that is interwoven with the arches that span the whole area. It rises wonderfully to create the raised platform or mezzanine, and it discreetly conceals the café counter within its confines. At one of the ends of the arches is a platform that serves as an open classroom. There are as many as twenty different artists displayed along the raised display aisles that wrap around the railing that runs around this workstation. During the activities that take place in this classroom, the balustrade serves as the ideal watching gallery. It also provides access to the elevated platform, which is the attic, which provides a more private experience while providing a view of the gallery below. The visual contrast is perfected by LUKSTUDIO through the use of a modest material palette consisting of porcelanosa, wood flooring, matching veneer panels, dajulong PVC flooring, white latex paint, and copper. This allows the art to do all the talking, while also forming a tasteful space that encourages and inspires. Take a look at the pictures on the website indiaartndesign.com.
