On August 3, 2018, in Carmel, California — Chamber Music Monterey Bay has announced yet another remarkable five-concert series for the 2018-2019 season. Additionally, the organization is looking for advertisers and is providing sponsorship possibilities for its season program. A dedicated and mostly local subscriber base of 220 persons is enjoyed by Chamber Music Monterey Bay. The great majority of CMMB’s subscribers, which accounts for 86 percent of the total, are located on the Monterey Peninsula. Locals, tourists, and those who live in the area on a part-time basis are all represented among those who purchase single tickets. Depending on the show, the Sunset Center in Carmel often has between 300 and 450 people in attendance for each performance. Approximately 1,500 copies of the program are produced and distributed before performances. The program is 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches and has between 32 and 36 pages. A quarter-page advertisement may be purchased for as little as $275, and the back cover for the whole five-concert season can be purchased for as much as $1,200. Is the deadline for money and artwork that is ready for the camera on August 31st? The CMMB’s 2018-2019 season of five performances offers some of the most renowned chamber groups from across the globe. The season began on October 6, 2018, with the Van Kuijk Quartet, a French ensemble that is rising to prominence. As the season continues, the keepers of the Aaron Copland flame, Music from Copland House, will perform on November 3, 2018. This will be followed by the Borromeo String Quartet, which has won multiple awards, performing with the renowned clarinetist Richard Stoltzman on January 19, 2019. The Catalyst Quartet, which is comprised of top laureates and alumni of the internationally acclaimed Sphinx competition, will perform on February 23, 2019. Finally, the Montrose Trio, which is a collaboration between pianist Jon Kimura Parker and the Tokyo String Quartet, will bring the season to a close on April 6, 2019. In December of 2017, Andy Sudol was appointed to the position of executive director of CMMB. He is looking forward to an exciting 2018-2019 season and to the organization’s continued growth in terms of the number of subscribers it has recruited. In spite of the fact that there are a great number of classical music presenters in the region, such as the Carmel Music Society, the Bach Festival, the Symphony, Ensemble Monterey, and so on, he said that he believes we occupy a distinct niche. “We feature a blend of old composers and modern composers in our repertoire.” In point of fact, I believe that we do a better job than any other local group of presenting live composers. When you come to one of our performances, you will most certainly hear new things or things that you have never heard before. Sudol also has the intention of expanding the educational outreach program that CMMB already provides. This program already includes the following: musician visits to local schools; Kids Up Front & Free!, in which children in grades three through twelve are invited to sit in the center-front three rows for a “up-close-and-personal” concert experience; master classes for student musicians; and special ticket pricing for students between the ages of seventeen and thirty. The performances put on by CMMB have been receiving acclaim for decades, including this particular review that was written for a concert that took place earlier this year. The music reviewer Lyn Bronson wrote in Peninsula Reviews, a website that he edits, about a concert that was performed by Chamber Music Monterey Bay (CMMB) earlier this year. “Chamber Music Monterey Bay (CMMB) has a long tradition of presenting the crème de la crème of chamber ensembles and also of commissioning significant new works by contemporary composers,” it said. The CMMB team once again struck the mark with their performance. Gabriela Lena Frank’s commissioned piece, “Four Folk Songs for Piano Trio,” was a success with the crowd, and the Claremont Trio was performing at the highest level of its abilities. A lecture will be given by Kai Christiansen, a well-known musicologist from San Francisco who is also the creator of earsense.org, an online chamber music exploratorium. This lecture will take place before each performance of the season. This will allow you to obtain a better understanding of the music that you are about to hear by providing you with information on the composers and their works. There will be no admission fee for the event, which will take place in the music hall of the Sunset Center at 6:45 p.m. Chamber Music Monterey Bay was established in 1966, and its origins can be traced back to an organization that was initially established by Hazel Watrous and Dene Denny. These two pioneers of early California history were responsible for bringing music performances to the Monterey Peninsula in the middle of the 1920s. They were also the co-founders of the Carmel Bach Festival and the Carmel Music Society, both of which frequently featured new works composed by local composers. Chamber Music Monterey Bay, which was an offspring of the Carmel Music Society, is an organization that remains today with the purpose of preserving the heritage of live classical chamber music performances and exploring the progression of the art form in a new manner. CMMB hosts five concerts during its annual season, which spans from October to May and lasts for nine months. These concerts feature performances by internationally acclaimed artists at the Sunset Cultural Center, which is a destination venue with 718 seats and is located in the picturesque town of Carmel-by-the-Sea from California. The programming that is shown on CMMB is both thrilling and original, and it includes everything from the most well-known masterpieces to lesser-known jewels and fresh new compositions. The reason why CMMB stands apart from other local presenters is because of this. The ensembles that CMMB invites to the region are enthusiastic about presenting unconventional and thought-provoking presentations to their audience. Also, the audiences of CMMB are quite enthusiastic about hearing them, which is something that the guest artists enjoy for their exceptionally attention.
