THE REPUBLICAN PARTY’S STAND ON STRICTER PUNISHMENTS FOR WOMEN WHO HAVE ABORTIONS IS GOING TO BLOW YOUR MIND!

Sean Erenstoft has some things to say about the most recent position taken by the GOP, which is to penalize women for using the rights they have about family planning. Just last week, the Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, expressed his desire that Republican voters will put their faith in Donald Trump to lead the party rather than in himself. ryan’s response to a question asking whether he believes Trump would become the next head of the GOP was, “my lord, I hope it is,” because the person who wins the nomination is the one who will lead our party. the question asked ryan if he thought Trump will win the nomination. However, Trump is now on his fourth iteration of his stance about abortion. Previously, he declared that the topic was established law; however, he is currently devoted to picking supreme court judges who would override the historic decision of roe v. wade. Indeed, in march of 2016, he said to chris matthews of msnbc that “women who have abortions should be subjected to some type of punishment.” And just last week, he said something that runs counter to that comment, which is: “I wasn’t referring to incarceration as a kind of punishment for women. I’m suggesting that women are their own worst enemies.” And to make things even worse, Trump’s campaign has published its own remarks declaring that “the woman is the victim” and that abortion doctors should be held criminally liable if abortions were prohibited. This has only served to make the situation even more dire. Because Donald Trump has expressed so many viewpoints that are in direct opposition to one another about this hegemonic problem, it is hard to predict what he will do as president. Many people saw his actions as an effort to win over a wider section of pro-choice voters while also keeping the backing of the anti-abortion establishment and the religious right. In a similar vein, when Trump said that planned parenthood “does very important things,” but that the organization should still be defunded if it continues to offer abortion services, he expressed ambiguity in his statements. In point of fact, by taking this stance, he is ignoring the reality that planned parenthood does not and cannot make use of the cash it gets from the government in order to finance abortions. Therefore, Donald Trump supports cutting money for mammograms and other forms of family planning. It would appear that our contemporary G.O.P. will have to address their stated position that women should be punished for the health decisions that they make and denied government-funded health support while their nominee decides how to overturn fifty years of established law in the area of a woman’s right to choose.
