strakka racing’s new eurocup formula renault 2.0 squad makes its competitive debut while a british racer’s double points score helps keep top-three ambitions alive in formula renault 3.5. strakka racing’s will be competing in formula renault 3.5 next season. Over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of September, rounds 12 and 13 of the 2014 formula renault 3.5 series were held at the hungaroring. Stevens was able to get back into the top five in the championship standings by accumulating a pleasant load of points in both rounds. Stevens performed well to finish in sixth position in the first race, considering that the inclement weather had a significant influence right from the start of the competition, and that he also had problems with the new brakes that had been provided for practice. Teammate Matias Laine, who had brake issues during testing as well, was involved in a collision on the opening curve of the first race but still managed to finish in 13th place on Sunday. This weekend marked the debut of strakka’s new eurocup formula renault 2.0 squad with reigning brdc formula 4 champion jake hughes and brdc f4 winter series champion matty graham. In addition to the formula renault 3.5 operations, this weekend also marked the debut of strakka’s new formula renault 3.5 operations. Hughes ended up with a high of 12thposition in race two – and fastest lap – while graham had to settle for 19thplace in race one. Each driver also had a non-finish because of the rainy weather, which gave less than ideal circumstances in which to learn vehicle and track. stevens and laine both had difficult weekends at the hungaroring prior to the round 12 of the formula renault 3.5 series on saturday. Heavy rains left the track waterlogged, and the authorities called for a wet race. Stevens began the race in fifth place after qualifying just 0.4 seconds off from the pole position. Despite this, he got off to an outstanding start. The Briton found the grip he required and pushed into third place on the outside line as the field went to the first bend. However, on the exit, he was forced to tuck back into fourth place because he had to save his energy. stevens maintained his hold on fourth position until the fifth lap, when carlos sainz jr. was able to pass him at the chicane. This action paved the way for matthieu vaxiviere to go ahead of the strakka car as well. Stevens fought his way back up to sixth position and managed to hold on to it until the race was over on lap 22 despite the fact that the track became more drier as the second part of the competition progressed. Laine’s expectations of a solid run from 10thon the grid were crushed at the first turn when he was tagged by zoel amberg, causing in a puncture. This caused laine to lose a position in the race. The Finn was able to make it to the pits by crawling, and while he was able to restart the race with a new set of tires, he decided to stop racing on lap four and withdraw. During the round number 13 that took place on sunday, Stevens began the race in the twelfth position on the grid. He had an outstanding start and worked his way up to the eighth position before the safety car was brought out. After five circuits had been completed, the race was restarted, and Stevens made his pit stop on the seventh circuit. After the pit stops, the order of the race stabilized, and he maintained the tenth position for the remainder of the competition. Laine, who started the race in the 18th position, did not have the easiest of competitions, but he brilliantly pushed his way into the 13th spot, which was just six seconds away from scoring points. “it’s been a very difficult weekend, not helped by the brake problems caused by the new parts,” explained stevens. “fifth in qualifying on saturday was actually not too bad,” stevens continued, “but the race was very wet, and the grip was really down.” “wet qualifying on sunday all came down to the last five minutes, and some drivers got an extra lap, but we missed out.” That indicated that the race would always be challenging, despite the fact that the pace was good. It hasn’t been the finest weekend, so we’re really looking forward to seeing Ricard today. Laine said, “The brake troubles we had on Friday meant that we did not have any laps.” The beginning of the first race went well for me, but then I was struck by Zoel Amberg and received a flat tire. The wet qualifying on Sunday was challenging; the conditions were challenging, and we were unable to do the best lap at the conclusion of the session when the track was in its finest condition. Despite that, the race went much more smoothly, and the tempo was just right. This last weekend was quite trying, so I’m glad that I’ll have ricard to look forward to. strakka has a difficult first round in the Eurocup fr 2.0. strakka racing’s new eurocup formula renault 2.0 outfit couldn’t have made its debut at a more difficult race than the one they chose, what with the constantly changing rainy weather making for a very difficult weekend. Hughes qualified in 18th place for the first race, and despite the fact that it was difficult to make up ground on the narrow Hungaroring track, he was able to advance one position before being forced to withdraw on the penultimate lap due to damage sustained from an errant competitor in the middle of the pack. Graham, who started the first race in the 22nd position, had a race that was relatively unremarkable, but he did manage to make his way into the top 20 by finishing in the 19th position. Hughes had a solid race on Sunday, moving up from his 19th starting position on the grid to finish in the top 12. The British driver moved up to 14th position after gaining three spots on the first lap alone and remained there when the safety car came out on the third lap of the race. In the last five circuits of the race, he made his way into the top 12 and crossed the finish line with the fastest lap of the competition. He was just 0.4 seconds away from the points and amazingly set the best lap of the race. Graham’s race was cut short rudely on the first circuit after he had gotten off to a fantastic start, but it was all for nothing when he was taken out of the competition by another driver. In retrospect, Hughes said, “Practice was quite wet, and it was my first time running in the vehicle in the wet, so there was a lot to learn.” The race was held in the rain. When compared head-to-head with the beginning of the testing process, the difference in automobile balance that was achieved at the conclusion was highly encouraging. In the first race, we had a very excellent pace, or prospective pace, since I spent the whole race caught behind other competitors. It came to a disastrous conclusion as a result of a poor maneuver performed by the vehicle in front of me in the braking zone. However, we were able to make significant strides with the vehicle during the second race. Graham shared his thoughts, saying, “we had a really challenging weekend. I didn’t go to Hungary expecting a podium finish, but I believed we might have been in the middle of the pack.” The weather made the one practice I had more difficult, then qualifying was held in a variety of circumstances, and the first race was probably one of the most challenging I’ve ever had since I had to learn the track while it was dry. I had a terrible qualifying performance for the second race, and we needed to make adjustments to the vehicle. However, I got off to a fantastic start in the race, and I made up some nice positions before I was taken out. It’s been a rough go of things all around this weekend.” On September 27 and 28, the world series by renault will come to paul ricard in france for the event that serves as the season’s last stop. strakka racing has progressed from its early domestic campaigns with bmws and aston martins to become one of the most renowned and successful privateer teams in the global endurance championship.
