HP: Lakhani Associates would like to extend an invitation to visit their office in Hyderabad, which serves as a demonstration of their design philosophy and approach… the design of this office can be summed up in three letters: e, e, and e. It goes far beyond being a simple physical manifestation of what the company stands for. The architectural business has provided its customers with a one-of-a-kind experience by creatively displaying the many experiments and explorations they have conducted. The interiors and the beautiful patio area are both adorned with natural organic finishes as well as the highest possible utilization of biodegradable and environmentally friendly construction materials. Beginning at the front door, one’s eyes are drawn to a multitude of specially-curated elements, such as a white lacquer finished ganesha mural with a touch of silver; a white corian reception table with a veneered ledge and concealed lighting at the bottom; storage cabinets in different areas sporting different finishes, such as laminate, pu, and lacquer; an assortment of flooring in natural tandoor stone, wood-finish tiles, pebbles, and artificial turf and the like the design language is sustainable, adding intrigue as a thriftily-used ingredient â an example of this would be the concrete baffle wall at the entry with the backlit company logo; or the conference room false ceiling, which is a printed fabric concealed in glass and backlit and gives one the feel of sitting below a tree in the open for discussions; or the false ceiling of rough veneer in the medical director’s cabin… In terms of space design, material consumption, and the supply of services, the company consumes energy by harnessing solar and wind resources. The only exception to this is the operation of the air conditioners. An iPad may be used to operate the whole of the office’s automation system, which is integrated throughout the space. The open floor layout was built in conjunction with vastu, and the primary studio is located in the middle of the space, while the many service areas are grouped together at one end. Additionally, the accountant’s desk is located in the main reception area, and one can also see a small meeting room, a conference room, and the room that is used by the primary architect. The whole workplace has a novel arrangement of rooms that are separated from one another by film-covered glass walls. These barriers guarantee that enough privacy is maintained. The break-out space is a large open terrace in front of the built form that also functions as a welcoming foyer. It features a pergola-sheltered dining area that is surrounded by potted plants and overlooks a large artificially-turfed lawn. As if the interior spaces weren’t enough to entice the clients or create a great working environment, the break-out space is a great addition! the three most important: ⢠what is the one thing you have done for yourself that you would never do for a customer? experiment. It is of the utmost importance to conceive of oneself as a solution provider to the needs of the customer rather than to force anything that is irrelevant to the situation. ⢠what is the most valuable piece of design advice that you live by? Every customer has a unique need that has to be satisfied in a manner that does not compromise the overall design or aesthetics of the product. ⢠Is there a particular message that you’d want to deliver to your customers by way of the environment that you’ve created for them? It is not necessary to spend a lot of money in order to obtain outstanding design; rather, having a grasp of the needs is one of the most important aspects of any effective design.
