The color of the oral mucosa varies based on factors such as location, function, and underlying tissues, although it is often pink. Lips play a major role in our smiles, and they are beautiful in both form and color. Individual differences in melanin synthesis, skin tone, vascularity, and lip dryness (dehydration) are common causes of lip color variation. Melanin is the primary component that determines the color of lips among them. Although lip hyperpigmentation is not a medical emergency, it is often seen as unsightly, may have an impact on a patient’s social interactions and self-esteem, and causes them to look for treatments. Etiology: Physiologic factors, such as hyper-melanin pigmentation, are the most frequent cause. Once any malignant alterations have been ruled out, the laser is used electively to remove lip pigmentation. Treatment modality: A variety of methods have been used to address lip depigmentation. Melanin pigmentation is often found in the epithelium layer and may sometimes extend to the basal layer; as a result, it is superficial and simple to access and remove. Techniques for lip melanin depigmentation include chemical peeling, cryotherapy, photodynamic treatment, pink tattoos, and topical medications such liquid nitrogen, vitamin C, arbutin, and hydroquinone. All of these treatments had varying results, side effects, and potentially unsatisfactory aesthetic consequences for the patients; yet, lasers produced excellent, acceptable results in terms of appearance and patient tolerance. To carry out this treatment, Pioon Laser provides a variety of wavelengths, including 450 nm, 810 nm, and 980 nm, which may be employed in a contact or non-contact way. In conclusion, lip hyperpigmentation should be taken into consideration as it might conceal an individual’s overall look. It has been shown that using a diode laser is a safe and efficient way to treat patients while achieving the best possible cosmetic results with the least amount of pain.
