hatem+d, a creative agency that works across several disciplines, recognizes the significance of a holistic design experience in their thorough conceptualization of Quebec’s first zazz boutique… For the purpose of influencing and eliciting the appropriate response from customers, hatem+d has gone to great lengths to reestablish their firm faith in the art of all-inclusive design. This is a comprehensive approach to design that involves incorporating a variety of design elements into a single design. When the design company was working with Zazz to develop their very first boutique in Quebec, Canada, they were particularly interested in creating a customer experience that would have trails that take customers through stations that displayed a variety of product assortments. It is the linearity of hair that serves as the foundation for the whole idea. This vectorial notion is strengthened with chain curtains that are built to customers’ specifications. These curtains separate various areas of merchandise, so producing a distinguishing characteristic. In addition, similar curtains are used on the mezzanine level in order to create a private space that is designated for hair and wig stylists. Every single component, from the furniture to the lighting and other one-of-a-kind signs for the store, is crafted by hand at the boutique. Each and every aspect is scrutinized, including the whiteness, the iridescence, the transparency, and the linearity for example. In order to draw attention to items and prominent design areas such as the front desk and the stairs, forms, colors, and textures are used. Ar. Chloé Barabé uses the height of the ceiling to clean up the space by introducing suspended and backlit furniture, displays that reach the ceiling, an unique ceiling finish, and multiple mirrors to emphasize the volume of the room. In addition to this creative lighting that enhances the idea of effervescence, the boutique gives off an impression of being beautiful and welcoming from the outside. By conceptualizing and creating the boutique in its whole, the boutique’s apparently feminine harmony is brought to life with a powerful identity, so re-establishing the architect’s expertise in the form of an all-encompassing design.
