The architectural and interior design firm 42mm architecture, which is based in Delhi, designs and constructs an office for crystal crop, which is an agrochemical manufacturer. The office is designed and constructed using basic crisp forms that are created out of natural raw materials in order to achieve an aesthetic that is both earthy and sophisticated. As a result of the fact that the company is deeply rooted in agriculture and industries that are closely related to it, as well as the fact that the client’s brief placed an emphasis on showcasing the fundamental essence of the company, the decision was made to go with a built form that was entirely environmentally friendly. The structure, which is situated on ring road and is close to Wazirpur in Delhi, has been acoustically modified to eliminate the noise while preserving views of the industrial surroundings. While the corporate office is located on the first and second floors of the 34,000 square foot tower, the ground floor has been left unspecified for the purpose of future growth development. A guest is provided with a first-hand look at what is to come by virtue of the presence of a reclaimed wooden welcome table that is situated in front of a solid green wall that is bordered by strand-board wall cladding and a space that is naturally lighted and ventilated. The use of concrete flooring contrasted against wooden slats or bamboo ceiling placed against reclaimed timber flooring may provide an earthy and organic atmosphere to various places, so encompassing the workplace in a straightforward and uncomplicated manner. break-out zones are comprised of stripped-down furniture that is set over green grass. These break-out sections have been skillfully incorporated into the overall design of the facade. In addition, the spatial design makes an effort to eliminate hierarchy by combining different rooms into a single open office layout. A light well with filtered light percolating through a passive solar device is at the center of the design, which is an interesting design element. This light well helps collect, store, and distribute solar energy in the form of heat during the winter months, while simultaneously reducing the amount of cooling that is required during the summer months. Additionally, it “crowns” the workplace while simultaneously preserving a visual connection. When combined with terracotta louvers on the exterior facade, which shield the structure from the sun’s rays that come from the south, a daring architectural form emerges, which not only distinguishes the structure from the typical urban streetscape but also places it in the running for a LEED rating.
