Copyright © Rem Koolhaas We provide you with an overview of what you may anticipate at the most widely anticipated and internationally recognized architectural event, which is the Biennale di Venezia… Copy: This show, which is in its fourteenth iteration and is named “Fundamentals,” will be held from the seventh of June to the twenty-third of November 2014 at a number of different locations across Venice. In his capacity as curator, the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas has said that Fundamentals would be a Biennale that focuses on architecture rather than architects. Instead than focusing on modern architecture, the exhibition intends to isolate itself from contemporary architecture and instead concentrate on the development of architecture throughout the world over the course of the last century. By means of this enormous endeavor, it attempts to discover how architecture finds itself in its current state as well as speculate on its future. It strongly moves away from exhibiting products and architects in order to do this. In today’s technologically advanced culture, individuals tend to store less information in their minds and more storage space on their electronic devices. The Biennale intends to solve this problem by reviving memories via installations that tell the tale of a century’s history. In doing so, the Biennale will provide a worldwide perspective of the development of architecture into a singular, contemporary style. At the same time, it seeks to bring to light distinct architectural characteristics and typologies that are specific to individuals’ countries and continue to thrive within the larger context of the global community, despite the fact that international exchanges between nations continue to develop and become more profound. The show, which will be held for nearly half a year, will have a number of lateral activities, including cinema, dance, music, and theater, in addition to a number of architectural workshops and seminars. These events are expected to inject the exhibition with life and humor. According to Paolo Baratta, president of La Biennale di Venezia, “This architectural exhibition has evolved into a major exhibition-research project.” The exhibition was initially conceived as a “imitation” of the Art Exhibition and was developed with the intention of “inviting” architects to bring us their architectural installations.
