There is a pervasiveness of lies throughout the globe, and the realm of politics is not an exception to this rule. The fact that top politicians are able to get away with involvements in undemocratic goals all the time without the knowledge or permission of the people they are meant to represent is something that continues to amaze me. It is a mutually beneficial relationship between certain powerful moneyed interest groups, such as those in the finance industry, Israel lobbyists, the military-industrial complex, securities, and the medical-pharmaceutical establishment, that allows these undemocratic agendas to be pursued and to have dominion over them. In their examination of the government of this nation, Professors Martin Gilens from Princeton University and Ben Page from Northwestern University corroborated the aforementioned statements by using the United States of America as an example. They basically came to the conclusion that senior politicians in the United States serve the economic elite organized groups with their business interests. These groups, in turn, influence the policy of the United States government to such an extent that any disagreement from the majority of the country’s citizens would have little impact. In light of the information presented above, they came to the conclusion that the majority of American people do not have much of an influence on the policies that are implemented by the government.
