A straightforward and cozy cottage is designed and constructed by Sunil Patil & Associates. This bungalow is constructed by joining two square plots that are located inside a bungalow complex on the outskirts of Pune. Contextually rooted, with one of the longer sides (South side) of the plot facing the road, east side overlooking a sugarcane farm and north side – the neighbour’s garden, the planning takes advantage of this green view, carving out a landscaped garden on the same side, visually continuing the schematic as well as providing a large foreground to the bungalow. In addition to the double-height living and courtyard, this three-story program opens out to this garden, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding vegetation. Additionally, vertical gardens are a striking addition to the beauty of the environment. The length of the plot is mirrored in the 7,720 square feet of built-up area, which makes it an elongated mass. This is because the shape follows the site when it is constructed. This lengthy appearance is further enhanced by horizontal slabs, which are used to purposely dwarf the home in order to blend in with its surroundings. The modern front, which is constructed of plastered walls and wooden louvers, is adorned with sleek and clean lines. The task that was given to the architects was to devise a layout that would accommodate a variety of purposes while still fostering a cozy and homey atmosphere. It is possible to achieve this with ease by dividing the areas on separate levels, beginning with the bottom floor and going up to the first story. Each of the internal areas flows into the next without any interruptions, creating a tremendous impression of openness and transparency across the whole space. A quiet color palette that is mostly composed of grays, browns, and whites, with traces of color coming from paintings, partitions, natural vistas, highlight walls, and other elements. Aside from having the capacity to plan strategically, the company is also capable of identifying nooks, corners, and walls that are one of a kind. As an example, one of the most notable features is the mural wall below the stairs that is formed of sari-printing blocks and is three stories tall! During the course of the day, skylights generate moving chiaroscuro features in the pebble courtyard, which is another attractive place. There is a clear demonstration of maturity in handling minute things throughout. As an example, the furniture follows the minimalist motif that is prevalent in architecture by including seating that is integrated into the common areas. Additionally, the multi-purpose family room, which can even be converted into a guest room, places an emphasis on the flexibility of space. Furthermore, visual continuity is asserted by means of vertical wooden louvers that run from the home theater to the living room, thereby dividing spaces while still maintaining a connection; similarly, the kitchen and dining room form a continuous space that is only separated by a bright yellow breakfast table! As a result of the client’s desire for a home that is uncomplicated and warm, the façade and interior of the building both express this sensibility. They are free of any showy aspects, making simplicity the protagonist of the design. Visit indiaartndesign.com to see the graphics that are associated with this project.
