The Fairmont of Montreal” The Queen Elizabeth Hotel has been reimagined in a manner that is consistent with its envisioning of a great hotel in the middle of the century and its big international style… Sid Lee Architecture has developed a vision for the repositioning of the hotel, working closely with the owner, Ivanhoé Cambridge, and the operator, Fairmont Hotels. In order to make this vision a reality, Sid Lee Architecture has developed concepts for both the hotel’s architecture and its interior design. The project was carried out by the architectural partnership consisting of Sid Lee Architecture, Architecture49, and Pomerleau, which was also responsible for their general contractor duties. With the aim of achieving a comprehensive vision, the hotel opens out to the city in order to welcome the people that live there. From a broader perspective, it reaffirms its position as an urban center that caters to both domestic and foreign customers. People are able to go there on a daily basis to do business, attend events, or just take some time for themselves. It is a third space. The refurbishment, which is inspired by the building’s history and the evolution of its style, includes the creation of several new entrances, the opening of kitchen areas and patios, the enhancement of the vertical connections through the installation of new sculptural stairways, and the creation of a large number of new natural light sources for the interior. Since its inception, the Grand Hall has been transformed into a roadway that is open to the public. The commercial services of the hotel are exposed to the street and line the ground floor, making them a part of the dynamic atmosphere that can be found in the downtown area of the city. The aesthetics of the 1960s are openly riffed on in its spaces, which also have a material expression that is characteristic of the hotel’s identity. The Agora is a new sort of venue that the hotel has introduced; its design is centered on the bold and eclectic juxtaposition of tiny rooms that are pleasant and flexible. This indoor public venue, which is a model example of its kind, will play home to big celebrations that will showcase and characterize Montreal on the international stage. The way it was designed is a futuristic vision that pays homage to the futurism that was prevalent during that era. The modernist legacy of the hotel is highlighted by the many elements, including the planned one-of-a-kind design of the ceremonial kitchen, the restaurants and bars, the business spaces, and the guest rooms. In the latter part of this month, the announcement of the opening of Espace C2, a new glass volume located on the 21st floor, will be made. This will position the building as a leading participant in the field of conference hosting.
